Pegasus Travel Takes Flight as Bursch Travel

In 1989, four travel advisors came together at  Pegasus Travel in Omaha, Nebraska, with a shared vision: to provide personalized, expert travel advice that would help people create lasting memories. Over the years, they weathered challenges like the aftermath of 9/11, recessions, and the loss of airline commissions — yet Pegasus remained a trusted beacon for its clients.

In 2005, owner Audrey Hulsey faced a crossroads.  At 67, without a succession plan, she agreed to explore selling the business. After she rejected several offers, fate intervened when Fred Bursch entered the picture, sparking a partnership that would define the next 19 years. Under Fred’s leadership, the combined Bursch and Pegasus Travel teams navigated even the toughest times, including the global pandemic, emerging stronger and more committed to exceptional service.

Fred’s passing in 2021 marked the end of an era, but his daughter, Lara Bursch Deppisch, stepped in to lead Bursch Travel into the future.  In 2023, there was another major change. Audrey finally made the decision to retire in mid-2025. Stacy, too, followed suit, deciding to retire and eager to become her own travel advisor. The most sensical decision then was made – retire the Pegasus name, a name that had served us well for so many years, and rebrand our Omaha location as Bursch Travel. This decision was both practical and meaningful.  It was a natural step — a heartfelt tribute to Fred’s legacy and the next generation.

As we reflect on the 35 years since those early days, we’re grateful for the relationships we’ve built and the travelers we’ve served. While the name may change, the dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence that defined Pegasus will always remain at the heart of Bursch Travel.

Safe Travels,

Kim, Audrey, Maggie, Stacy, David, Mark, and Debbie
