GREAT PLAINS STATE BANK NAMED BEST REGIONAL BANK

(OMAHA, NE) - Great Plains State Bank has been named Best Regional Bank by Newsweek for 2025.

CEO and President Rick Chochon says, “it is an honor to be recognized for our growth as well as the success of the trust and partnerships we have established within the communities we serve.”

For the second time, Plant-A Insights Group and Newsweek collaborated to identify America's Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions 2025. This study examined all regional banks and credit unions across the U.S. accounting about 9,170 institutions using an approach based on indicators of financial health, operational performance, and metrics pointing toward long-term stability. Only institutions with positive profitability, creditworthiness, healthy lending capacity and institutions operating in fewer than 30 states were included in this analysis.  After an extensive large-scale independent customer survey of over 71,000 U.S. residents, Great Plains State Bank was one of 33 Nebraska banks to capture this title. Over 845,000 reviews of regional banks and credit unions were collected, spanning all states capturing experiences across 12 categories using 52 items. In addition, more than 1.9 million social media reviews and 129 million app store reviews from Apple and Google Play were programmatically gathered to assist with the scoring.

According to Newsweek, “regional banks and credit unions are the financial backbone of communities nationwide. They serve as vital engines at the local level as they support small businesses, fund projects and ensure easy access to essential banking services. With intimate knowledge of local economies, these banks often form strong bonds with customers, enabling them to better meet their needs.”

Chochon added, “getting personal is at the heart of Great Plains State Bank because handshakes and Midwestern values of family and community still matter.”
