Golf Invitational- Project Harmony
In 1996, Diane Penney Sorensen, manager of Tony Roma’s in Omaha, suggested a golf tournament as a way to help develop Project Harmony Child Advocacy Center prior to its opening. The Invitational has grown through the years and is now approaching the 23rd year. Through the combined efforts of Dean Rasmussen, Jim Jansen, and Diane Sorensen net proceeds from the Invitational have grown from $12,000 the first year to more than 2.6 million today. Many sponsors have been involved since its inception.
Held at Indian Creek Golf Course, 200 golfers and over 50 volunteers each year have helped make the Invitational a tradition of great golf for a great cause. The funds raised through this annual event have become a critical part of Project Harmony’s annual budget. Without this support and these funds, Project Harmony simply could not provide vital investigative and medical services to child abuse victims in eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. We would like to thank our generous sponsors for their continued support and for helping us achieve our goal of ending child abuse and neglect.
