First Dental Visit Recommended by Age 1

Company News

Pediatric Dental Specialists of Greater Nebraska and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that children be assessed by a dentist within six months of their first tooth appearing or by one year of age. Scheduling your child for their first dental visit by age 1 will help them become familiar with the dental office at an early age, provide the opportunity to catch problems in their mouth before they arise, and establish them with a dental home where they can receive routine evaluations and cleanings and any other treatment that keep their young smile healthy.

We take a knee-to-knee approach for their first dental visit that allows parents to still hold their young child in their lap. The provider will sit knee-to-knee with the parent to complete the evaluation. It provides comfort and a sense of security and safety for the child during their first dental visit. The dentist will gently examine their jaw and teeth to make sure that everything is developing as it should. They will also check for cavities, mouth injuries, and any other issues. The dentist will then clean the child’s teeth and provide parents with the proper tools and techniques to establish good dental habits at home.

Dr. Ben Reimer and Dr. Frannie Rensch at Pediatric Dental Specialists are excited to welcome you to their practice, located in the heart of Omaha. Contact Pediatric Dental Specialists in Omaha to schedule your child for their first dental visit!
