Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska

Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska to Host Webinar on Medicare Basics

Company News Community Events

For many, Medicare can be overwhelming and confusing to navigate, and, to complicate things further, misinformation circulates in vast amounts–leading to errors resulting in penalties and delays of benefits from individuals and families who need the coverage Medicare provides.

Applying for Medicare can be especially challenging to individuals recovering from a brain injury as the complicated nature of the process can tax their limited energy and concentration reserves.

To help simplify the process, the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska is partnering with Nebraska SHIP to present a webinar on July 12, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., and will cover topics such as:

When and how to apply

What is covered by Medicare

Differences between Medicare supplements and Medicare Advantage

And other common Medicare questions

Over the course of the evening, Resource Facilitator and Certified SHIP Counselor, Sheila Kennedy will share her knowledge and answer questions about Medicare. Prior to joining the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska, Kennedy worked with the SHIP Program for over eight years and has a comprehensive understanding of Medicare and working with individuals to apply for Medicare benefits.

Kennedy says, “Medicare is complicated and it is not the same for everyone. Knowing how to navigate Medicare and how it works with other programs can help make sure you get the coverage you need when you need it! There are no dumb questions when it comes to understanding your healthcare coverage!"

About the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska

The Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska (BIA-NE) was founded in 2009 to create better futures for all Nebraskans through brain injury prevention, education, advocacy, and support.

Serving the brain injury population means securing and developing community-based services, providing support groups and access to pertinent information and medical resources, and service referrals. It also means educating professionals who work with children and adults with brain injury.

These impactful services are provided by BIA-NE resource facilitators located throughout the state of Nebraska who are available to help individuals living with the effects of brain injury.
