Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska to Host Follow-up Webinar on Medicare Open Enrollment
Last month, the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska hosted a webinar on Medicare basics, presented by Certified SHIP Counselor, Sheila Kennedy. Throughout the course of the evening, Kennedy shared a wealth of knowledge about the various parts and plans of Medicare, and what to be aware of for each.
Many of the participants thanked Kennedy, stating that the information was very helpful and thorough.
Due to the success of the Medicare basics webinar, Kennedy will be presenting another webinar on September 20, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. covering Medicare Open Enrollment.
Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 - December 7 each year and is the only way for Medicare recipients to update their coverage. Unfortunately, this process can often be confusing and filled with pitfalls that can cause penalties or even loss of coverage for the unaware.
To help people to prepare for Open Enrollment, the topics covered in this webinar include:
A brief recap of Medicare and its plans
Part D and the Advantage plans
Copay and co-insurance amounts that determine the plan costs
How to maximize cost, coverage, and convenience
Overview of Open Enrollment and how to review plans with and without MyMedicare.gov accounts.

About the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska
The Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska (BIA-NE) was founded in 2009 to create better futures for all Nebraskans through brain injury prevention, education, advocacy, and support.
Serving the brain injury population means securing and developing community-based services, providing support groups, access to pertinent information and medical resources, and service referrals. It also means educating professionals who work with children and adults with brain injury.
These impactful services are provided by BIA-NE resource facilitators throughout the state of Nebraska who are available to help individuals living with the effects of brain injury.
