Nebraska Ataxia, Inc
Welcome to Nebraska Ataxia. Nebraska Ataxia’s nonprofit mission is to help those affected by Ataxia through direct assistance, community and professional education and awareness, support for caregivers, and funding for medical therapies, equipment and research. Our organization’s programs and partnerships focus on improving the quality of life for ataxians in our service area of Nebraska and Iowa.
Our founder, Linda Snider, the local ambassador for the National Ataxia Foundation, was diagnosed with Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 1 (SCA1) in 1994 through genetic testing; she was 21 years old. Since then, she graduated from medical school and currently works as a physician. Linda's mission as the co-founder of the organization is to lessen the isolation that many people with ataxia feel, provide a place where they can share ideas and resources, increase local awareness about ataxia, and raise money for research.
